Open Mic Social

On the third Saturday of each month we host an open mic (mike, microphone) night in the old barrister’s salon.  While not exclusively for Christian musicians, we do encourage Christian singer songwriters, bands and others to come and present their original or cover material.

We enjoy a wide variety of music at these evenings from Christian contemporary to rock, pop, jazz and classical.  We want to encourage you and your friends to come and play, or just come and enjoy the ambiance of the salon with a coffee, espresso or soda and snacks.

We do not charge, although if you want to make a donation we will gladly accept same on behalf of the Christian Legal Aid Office.

For more information please check http://www.hope-n-mic.com/ or call 661-753-7862.  It is not necessary to register to perform but we do schedule everyone on a first-come-first-up basis.

See the event calendar at http://www.hope-n-mic.com/ for the date of the next open mike event.

Equipment Available For Performers
PIANO We have a Kimball acoustic piano available. Full size piano. Sounds great !
GUITAR AMP This is a Peavey tube amp. Don’t recall the exact model number but it is also a 12″ speaker and loader than the room will stand.
BASS AMP This is a Peavey 115 TKO bass amp. A single 15″ speaker, 100Watt amplifier. More than loud enough for the venue.
PA MIXER SAMSON TXM16 16 channel PA. It says it is 1000W but i think it’s more like 200 – or I really am going deef. Still plenty loud enough, good digital effects built in, 16 channels including player input for Karaoke / MP3 / CD accompaniment.
PA SPEAKERS We have two EV Sx300 speakers. They sound great.
MONITOR SPEAKERS None. The PA uses SPEAKON & 1/4″ cables so if you want to bring monitor speaker(s) you need to bring the correct cables with you too.
MICROPHONES We have 3 good quality vocal mics and four mic stands.
DRUMS Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage. 5 piece plus hat, crash and ride.
MISCELLANEOUS We have two music stands. On any given night we may have tambourines and / or other percussion toys and if I feel up to it, a Yamaha S90ES keyboard – you’d have to let me know you’d like to use it.
